Juan Del Potro has given Thailand Open organizers a lift as he confirmed that he will make his return to tennis by playing next week's event.
The Argentine, who has been missing since January after wrist surgery, joins Rafael Nadal in what is shaping up as an all-star field.
Del Potro, ranked 35th, confirmed his entry on his Twitter feed: "I'm happy to say: I'm going to play again!" said the South American, winner of seven career titles.
Nadal arrived in Thailand earlier this week and immediately took off for a quick beach holiday. Del Potro is making Bangkok the start of a tournament series in the East which also includes Tokyo and the Masters 1000 in Shanghai next month.
The tournament, which has leveled off in local interest since the days when Roger Federer, Andy Murray and former Thai hero Paradorn Srichaphan played, can now boast the winners of the last two editions of the US Open in its 28-man field.

Injury on his wrist. I worry about his play. I hope to become his play of the best early. GO, Del potro.
