Jeremy Chardy made the second round of the BCR Open with a straight-set victory over compatriot Guillaume Rufin early Monday. The eighth seed is joined by Marcel Granollers, who took out Victor Hanescu in three sets.

Eighth seed Jeremy Chardy needed only 60 minutes to defeat fellow Frenchman Guillaume Rufin on Monday. The world No. 59 surrendered just 5 service points en route to a 6-0, 6-2 opening-round victory. The 23-year-old, who converted five of 10 break chances, improved his season record to 22-24.
Chardy will face qualifier Simone Vagnozzi for a place in the round of 16. The Italian downed wildcard Marius Copil in the first round, 7-6(4), 6-4.
Marcel Granollers def. (6) Victor Hanescu 2-6, 6-2, 6-1
Marcel Granollers is through to the second round after rallying to upend former finalist Victor Hanescu in three sets. The Spaniard secured three breaks in the deciding set to seal the win in two hours and two minutes. With the opening-round success, the 24-year-old extended his 2010 mark to 15-18.
Granollers is scheduled to meet Filippo Volandri in the next round. The Italian defeated Lukasz Kubot in the first round, 6-3, 6-0.
