  • Isner says he's done with any Wimbledon fatigue

    9/7/10 2:12 AM | Johan Lindahl
Isner says he's done with any Wimbledon fatigue Wimbledon marathon man John Inser refuses to blame lingering fatigue from his three-day marathon win two months ago for his four-set loss in the US Open third round to Russian Mikhail Youzhny.

And for now, the American is planning almost a week of rest and rehab before turning his thoughts to a Davis Cup relegation tie in Colombia.

Isner won the longest match in history - it took three days ending 70-69 in the fifth set - over Frenchman Nicolas Mahut, then lost in the second round - exhausted. His summer ATP record featured an Atlanta final and a 4-3 record after that on hardcourt.

But the tallest player in the game says that his New York loss cannot be blamed on anything from the past, including the ankle he rolled in Cincinnati and which hampered his Open preparation.

"It needs strengthening, more rehab. It's not that grueling, just stuff to build the muscles around the ankle and get them stronger. I don't think it needs rest. I think it needs to get stronger, because that will help everything if I get my ankle stronger."
