Fernando Verdasco eased into the third round of the US Open with a straight-set victory over qualifier Adrian Mannarino on Friday. The Spaniard is joined by compatriot David Ferrer, who won his match against Benjamin Becker.

World No. 8 Fernando Verdasco is through to round three after defeating qualifier Adrian Mannarino in straight sets. The 26-year-old secured six of 16 break chances through one hour and 52 minutes of play. Verdasco, who tallied 21 winners on the day, passed through the 6-1, 6-2, 6-2 contest without dropping serve.
The Madrid native is slated to meet either David Nalbandian or Florent Serra for a place in the round of 16.

Tenth seed David Ferrer made the third round with a straight-set success against veteran Benjamin Becker. The Spaniard struck 31 winners and 11 aces en route to a 6-3, 6-4, 6-4 victory in two hours and 9 minutes. The German, unable to earn more than one service break, tallied 40 unforced errors during the match.
Ferrer will take on fellow Spaniard Daniel Gimeno-Traver in the third round. Gimeno-Traver rallied to oust Frenchman Jeremy Chardy in round two, 4-6, 6-2, 6-0, 7-6(2).

Wow so many Spanairds into the third round, truly impressive this year, seven out of nine of them in this half of the draw and two on the other half. GGL had to face Almagro, too bad, if not may have another one in the third round!
