With the US Open only just beginning the start of Andy Roddick's 2011 is already set, with the No. 9 ready to defend his title in Brisbane during the first week of the year.
"I enjoyed the tournament and I feel it is the best preparation for me for the Australian Open," said the 28-year-old. "Brisbane was a big tournament for me last year. I was coming off an extended lay-off and so I was a little anxious to get back out on the court."
"To come away with a win (over Radek Stepanek) was more than I expected, it was a good memory."
Roddick's immediate goal is trying to figure in title contention in New York where he was the last American to win the home title seven years ago as his ranking briefly touched No. 1.
