Roger Federer will front up in Sweden two years late with an entry in October's Stockholm Open.
Organisers announced that the Swiss no. 2 will head a field which also includes two-time French Open finalist Robin Soderling and Wimbledon finalist Tomas Berdych.
Federer missed his promised showing in 2008 as he opted to rest after contacting glandular fever at the start of the year. But the Australian Open champion will on court in the capital in the autumn, saying that he owed the Stockholm public.
"I was supposed to play two years ago but my schedule was too tough. This year I have organized a better schedule which means that I will be well prepared...I keep my promises," he said. "The competition has fine traditions with winners such as Borg, Edberg, Becker and Agassi and I also want my name engraved on the trophy."
Marcos Baghdatis won the trophy a year ago while the last Swede to win was Thomas Johansson - now a tournament organiser along with Jonas Bjorkman - in 2004.
Joining Federer at the Kungligahallen will be two-time French Open finalist Robin Soderling, who lost to Federer in the Roland Garros title match in 2009. Current Wimbledon finalist Tomas Berdych, who beat the Swiss in the quarter-finals earlier in the summer, is also entered.

Roger was signed up to play stockholm 2 years ago. He withdrew from the event his management citing 'exhaustion' (rf.com). It's good news for federer fans as it shows roger is motivated to gain as many points as he can by year end WTF. doesn't matter whether it's ATP 250 or 500, or 1000. He couldn't keep his promise then because he clearly wasn't healthy to enter, similar to nole when he withdraw from, I think was it Rome or Miami? this year. He had 'promised' to play, but withdrew citing 'personal reasons'. It transpired he was opening a new tennis centre for disadvantaged kids in serbia.(on novak's fansite).this happens.

Emiliano55, not all cities are able to host bigger tourneys that attract the top players. It would be good opportunity for some fans to watch their favourite player in live action. As mentioned in the article, some big names have appeared there before, not to mention a couple of notable top 10 players in this year's event.

Maybe he wants to become like Nadal several years ago... play so many tournaments... I think there must be a reason benefit him rather than just to please the fans..

How can you NOT get pissed off with these fedfans, when Roger loses at the MS Masters, they are so fast like an automatic rifle in saying that what matter most are only Grand Slams with full of arrogance? Now a 250 event again like Estoril?
Roger and fedfarts, you are all laughing stock. bwahahahaha.

Roger is a very conscientious/caring person, this is another trait I like about Roger.

same old raindrops - BUT - for ONE DAY. Federer fans and Rafa fans look at this link and believe that roger and rafa are a TEAM. (even you might like it Raindrops?).
It's just brilliant.

yawn....
jean , 8/19/10 6:19 PM
oh jean. do you know what you sound like when you cannot appreciate something like this, to share between both fans. a bitter, horrible person. you're not worth it.
maxi , 8/19/10 6:24 PM
jean, i've found (well, someone else did), a shorter version - it's only 8 seconds and I think you might be able to cope with that one more than the second one (it won't tire you out so much) which is 14 minutes - hope you enjoy it jean :)

Well well maxi, you have a short memory. That's the word you always use on nadline. So if I'm bitter and horrible, than so are you. Hypocrite, no? Can dish it out but can't take it! I thought I'd see how you'd like your own word used on you. Looks like you don't like it? So why use it on others?
Yawn.....maxi....yawn....

Such a funny, warm video with the two top players ... shame we all can't have that sort of hilarity while dealing with our Rafa/Roger obsessions.
smr , 8/19/10 7:13 PM
jean,
actually - you are wrong - again. After accusing me of being a number of people on this forum, you got caught out didn't you? egg on your face.
Secondly, it was Stu's fantastic idea - not mine - so I can't take credit where credit is due. Stu's word which was brilliant - and yes, I used it Jean, when posts were repetitive NOT when someone has posted a video - that's all this was, and it's YOU that has turned this into something which it isn't. It was meant to be shared by both Roger and Rafa fans - you just let your hypocritical/bitter character get in the way. No? Can dish it out, but can't take it, eh Jean?
Great that you found it so amusing though Jean.
smr. Yep.

This is really pathetic. I mean, the guy realized that he cannot win any single tourney and now he is signed to an ATP 250. Sure Roger, you "keep your promises".
