David Nalbandian continued to roll along in Toronto, upsetting Robin Soderling to move into the quarterfinals.
For the first set, world No. 45 David Nalbandian and No. 5 seed Robin Soderling went toe to toe. At 3-3, Soderling was forced to save a break point to hold for 4-3. The Swede pressed Nalbandian in his next service game and earned a pair of break point chances, but the Argentine served his way out of trouble.
Soderling’s breakthrough came as Nalbandian served at 4-5 to stay in the match. The Argentine kicked in 2 consecutive double faults to go down 0-30. At 0-40 with 3 set points at his disposal, a Soderling backhand clipped the top of the tape for 15-40, but Nalbandian was just delaying the inevitable. The Argentine missed a volley and just like that, the set went to the Swede.
Nalbandian came out firing in the second set. Soderling was immediately broken at love, but the Swede returned the favor in the next service game. Nalbandian broke again at 1-1 to make 3 dropped service games in a row.
From that point in the match, Nalbandian never looked back. He took the second set up a service break and rolled through the third set. By the middle of the third set, Soderling was heavy-footed and was simply no match for Nalbandian. The Argentine moves into quarterfinals where he will take on the winner of Andy Murray and Gael Monfils.

croc, it makes me wonder how much tennis you really watch if you think Nalby beating Sod proves that Nalby can beat many type of good players. That's always been a fact that Nalby can do that, he just has not been consistent in doing it. He is a dangerous player (with alot of confidence right now) and can cause a heap of trouble to any player, including Rafa and fed.

I'm surprised that people get surprised about this. Nalbandian has been the most talented guy on the whole circuit since 2002. Never, ever, take him for granted.
