Jeremy Chardy booked a spot in the round of 16 on Wednesday with a three-set victory over 9th seed Fernando Verdasco. Philipp Kohlschreiber also advanced, having knocked out Viktor Troicki 6-0 in the third set.

Jeremy Chardy is through to the final 16 in Toronto after rallying to down 9th seed Fernando Verdasco. The 23-year-old Frenchman crushed 12 aces to complete the second-round success in two hours and 52 minutes. Chardy ended the afternoon with three of 17 break chances converted, and 8 of 9 break points saved.
The Frenchman will square off against 6th seed Nikolay Davydenko in the round of 16. The Russian veteran downed qualifier Fabio Fognini early Wednesday, 7-5, 6-1.

Philipp Kohlschreiber made round three at the Rogers Cup, following his three-set win over Viktor Troicki. After both players took a set, the German broke the Troicki serve three times in the decider. Kohlschreiber held the Serb to 6 final-set points on the return, as he sealed the victory in one hour and 41 minutes.
The 26-year-old is due to take on either Paul-Henri Mathieu or Yen-Hsun Lu in the next round.
