Argentina’s David Nalbandian completely smothered Tommy Robredo with his groundstrokes in their second round match.
David Nalbandian’s match win streak is now 8 matches and counting. Everyone except Rajeev Ram in the opening round of Washington has been higher ranked than the current world No. 45. His ranking is misleading, as he is playing far more like the top 10 player that he once was, rather than someone just inside the top 50.
Tommy Robredo is ranked 38 in the world, but he was completely outclassed by Nalbandian on Wednesday. Five service breaks for Nalbandian, including 3 in the second set that resulted in a bagel for Robredo, capped the easy 56 minute win.
Nalbandian will take on two-time Roland Garros finalist Robin Soderling in the third round.
