    Roddick off to winning start in Washington Second seed Andy Roddick made a successful debut at the 2010 Legg Mason Tennis Classic Tuesday evening. The World No. 9 defeated opening-round opponent Grega Zemlja in straight sets.

    Three-time champion Andy Roddick secured a spot in the round of 16 after taking out qualifier Grega Zemlja on Tuesday. The American held 10 consecutive service games without facing break point, having sealed a 6-4, 6-4 victory. With the second-round success, the 27-year-old improved his season record to 35-8.

    Roddick took a service break lead at 2-2 in the opening set. The World No. 9 passed through the remainder untested, as he closed the 6-4 set in 42 minutes. A key break of serve came at 3-3 for the American, who went on to complete the match in one hour and 24 minutes.

    Roddick ended the evening with four aces and 90% of his first-service points captured.

    He will take on 13th seed Gilles Simon for a place in the quarterfinal. The Frenchman eased through his second-round encounter with qualifier Igor Kunitsyn, 6-1, 6-2.
