Defending champion Sam Querrey and third seed Marcos Baghdatis are through to the quarterfinal at the Farmers Classic after rallying to secure victories in the round of 16.

Second seed Sam Querrey booked a quarterfinal berth after outlasting Kevin Anderson late Wednesday night. The defending champion squandered multiple leads during the match, but regrouped to seal the deciding set with a bagel. Querrey completed the two-hour and 14-minute contest with 11 aces and six breaks of serve. Anderson ended the night with 12 costly double faults and just four of 16 break chances converted.
Querrey will take on veteran Rainer Schuettler for a place in the semifinal. The German came through his round of 16 battle with Robby Ginepri Wednesday afternoon, 6-3, 3-6, 6-4.
(3) Marcos Baghdatis def. (WC) Ryan Sweeting 3-6, 6-2, 6-3
Third seed Marcos Baghdatis rallied to defeat wild card opponent Ryan Sweeting late Wednesday afternoon. After splitting the first two sets, the Cypriot built a 3-0 lead in the deciding set. Baghdatis, who secured five of 10 break chances, crushed 11 aces en route to an opening-round win in one hour and 51 minutes.
Baghdatis is scheduled to face 6th seed Janko Tipsarevic in the quarterfinal. The Serb ousted qualifier Somdev Devvarman in the round of 16, 7-6(9), 6-2.
