Injured, exhausted Fish pulls from home LA event Weekend Atlanta winner Mardy Fish has pulled the plug on his participation at this week's event in Los Angeles, with the summer's current form player citing physical issues.

After playing into his second straight victory on the ATP after Newport at the start of the month, LA-based Fish withdrew from his home event shortly after arriving on the West coast after a day of flight delays.

"Due to fatigue and a sprained ankle in Atlanta I am not in good shape to play," Fish told organizers. "I need to rest in order to compete at a high level."

The American is now ranked 35th,moving up 15 places as a result of his comeback win for the Atlanta title over Wimbledon marathon man John Isner.

The trophy was the fifth of his career for Fish, who said he carried his ankle injury throughout the week after playing in the second round against Robby Ginepri.
