(WC) James Blake def. Leonardo Mayer 6-1, 6-4
Wild card James Blake breezed into the second round with a 6-1, 6-4 victory over first-round opponent Leonardo Mayer. The American veteran held nine of 9 service games en route to a 64-minute win Tuesday afternoon. Blake led 5-0 in the opening set, then followed with a key break of serve at 2-2 in the second. The 30-year-old improved his season record to 9-10, having captured his first Tour success since March.
Blake meets either Benjamin Becker or a lucky loser in the next round.
Robby Ginepri def. (Q) Ilija Bozoljac 6-3, 6-4
Robby Ginerpi reached the round of 16 following his 6-3, 6-4 win against qualifier Ilija Bozoljac. The 27-year-old secured 42 of 54 service points to seal the first-round match in one hour and 8 minutes. The American, successfully rebounding after a second-round defeat in Atlanta (lost to Fish), extended his 2010 mark to 7-11.
Ginepri will face veteran Rainer Schuettler for a place in the quarterfinal. The German made the round of 16 after 7th seed Horacio Zeballos retired with a shoulder injury.
