    7/27/10 4:51 AM | Cheryl Murray
Dolgopolov, Chela move through in Umag Alexandr Dolgopolov of the Ukraine moved into the second round after a tough three-set win over Paolo Lorenzi.

Alexandr Dolgopolov def. Paolo Lorenzi 6-3, 6-7(6), 7-6(3)

Poor serving from the up and coming Alexandr Dolgopolov made his first round match difficult. The world No. 42 faced a shocking 14 break points in the match. Paolo Lorenzi of Italy is ranked No. 106. He spends most of his time on the Challenger circuit, but unlike Dolgopolov, he prefers to play on clay.

The first set was messy from both players. Dolgopolov only managed to put 37% if his first serves in play for the set, but Lorenzi was not able to take advantage of the dismal serving. The Italian was able to secure one break of serve, but he surrendered two to give Dolgopolov the lead.

Dolgopolov continued to have difficulty in the second and third sets, but Lorenzi played a bit better – enough that he leveled the match at a set a piece in the second set tie-breaker. The Ukrainian just managed to squeeze out the win in the third set tiebreaker.

Dologopolov will take on Croatian wildcard Franco Skugor in the second round.

Juan Ignacio Chela def. Ruben Ramirez Hidalgo 6-4, 6-1

World No. 56 Juan Ignacio Chela of Argentina spent an hour and a half on court in his straight-sets defeat of Spaniard Ruben Ramirez Hidalgo. Chela was able to secure 4 service breaks, while facing just one of his own, which he was able to fight off. The Argentine will take on the winner of Antonio Veic of Croatia and Simon Bolelli from Italy.
