Juan Carlos Ferrero is through to the International German Open quarterfinal, following his three-set victory over Jarkko Nieminen. The Spaniard is joined by Andrey Golubev, who ousted defending champion Nikolay Davydenko.

Sixth seed Juan Carlos Ferrero reached the final eight in Hamburg, as he held on to defeat third-round opponent Jarkko Nieminen. The 30-year-old veteran came back from 2-4 down in the opening set to seal a 6-2, 3-6, 6-4 victory in one hour and 46 minutes. Ferrero, who recorded his 27th match-win of the season, ended the day with 37 of 48 first-service points captured.
The Spaniard will face Florian Mayer for a place in the semifinal. The German dismissed Maximo Gonzalez of Argentina in the round of 16, 7-6(1), 6-0.
Andrey Golubev def. (1) Nikolay Davydenko 6-4, 6-4
Unseeded Andrey Golubev earned his first win over a top 10 player, having delivered a straight-sets upset to defending champion Nikolay Davydenko. The 23-year-old, ranked World No. 82, downed the top seed in 90 minutes of play, 6-4, 6-4. Golubev held nine of 10 service games while securing three breaks of the Davydenko serve.
Golubev is scheduled to take on Denis Istomin in the quarterfinal. Istomin rallied to a three-set victory against wildcard Julian Reister in round three, 3-6, 6-3, 7-6(3).
