Luckless James Blake will soldier on in his struggling comeback from a year's worth of knee injury, taking a wild card into the Washington, DC event on the ATP after crashing out in the first round of Atlanta.
The 30-year-old has done it tough in recent months, trying to let his problem heal without the use of painkillers, missing the clay season and losing his last four matches.
But the American is determined to try and carry on. He has a soft spot for steamy Washington, where he won the first of his ATP titles in 2002. The 2005 runner-up, will return to the event for the first time in four years when it begins August 2. Blake joins former champions Andy Roddick and Lleyton Hewitt in the field.
Despite his inability to get his game back, Blake refuses to give up on his career. The No. 115 insists that he is finally feeling his fitness. "I haven't had results in long time, the injury took longer than I want to admit."
"This is the first time in a year that I feel 100 percent healthy. I've trained full speed for two weeks. I just love putting in the work and falling exhausted into bed."

Blake accepted the wild card a few days ago, long before he lost to Dent in the first round. He was going to play DC no matter how did in Atlanta.
