John Isner in demand in American media after winning epic 5-set match over Nicolas Mahut at Wimbledon.
American John Isner's camp has already begun working to help the player cash in on his sudden celebrity as winner of the longest match in history a week after the conclusion of his Wimbledon first-round marathon over Nicolas Mahut which went 70-68 in the fifth set.
Back at home and with a fortnight to spare before his next event on hardcourt in Atlanta, Isner made an appearance on the David Letterman chat show. He has also been steered onto the celebrity circuit as handlers take advantage of the presumably short shelf life of his achievement of playing one match lasting for more than 11 hours.
He threw out the first pitch at Yankee Stadium for a baseball game and told the New York Times: “I think my best tennis is still three years ahead of me. Physically, I’m fresh. Even though I’m 25, I don’t have the wear and tear like all these guys who started at 18," said the former university student, adding: "Prior to that match, I was a nobody at Wimbledon."
"Now I think people know what I have inside me.”
