World No. 3 Novak Djokovic had little difficulty advancing to the final four at the All England Lawn Tennis Club on Wednesday, as he defeated surprise quarter-finalist Yen-Hsun Lu in straight sets.
Third seed Novak Djokovic made the last four at Wimbledon Wednesday afternoon, following his impressive 6-3, 6-2, 6-2 success over Yen-Hsun Lu of Taiwan. The 23-year-old, who did not face a break point in 111 minutes of play, booked his first semifinal berth at Wimbledon since 2007.
The quarterfinal-round victory, coupled with defending champion Roger Federer’s loss to 12th seed Tomas Berdych, signals a return to the World No. 2 spot for Djokovic on Monday.
Djokovic earned a critical service break in the sixth game of the opening set. The Serb continued untested, taking a break of serve in the fifth and seventh games of the second set. The World No. 3, who struck 13 winners in set three, pocketed two additional breaks to seal the win at the one-hour and 51-minute mark.
Djokovic completed the afternoon with 29 errors and five of 15 break point opportunities converted.
The 23-year-old will face World No. 13 Tomas Berdych for a place in the final. The 12th-seeded Czech upset defending champion Roger Federer in the quarterfinal, 6-4, 3-6, 6-1, 6-4.
