In-form Murray breezes into Wimbledon third round World No. 4 Andy Murray is through to the third round at the All England Lawn Tennis Club after taking out opponent Jarkko Nieminen in straight sets.

With Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II in attendance for the first time since 1977, Andy Murray turned in a solid performance to book a third round berth at the Wimbledon Championships. The Scot struck 18 aces and saved four of 4 break points en route to a 6-3, 6-4, 6-2 victory in one hour and 42 minutes.

After saving three break points in the first game, Murray built a 3-0 lead with help from his trademark defense. The 23-year-old completed the set comfortably, as he reached double set-point at 5-3. Murray closed for a one-set lead with an ace.

The second set contained no service breaks until the seventh game. Murray had two chances to break, but failed to convert. A third opportunity came for the Scot, who took a 4-3 edge after hitting a well-timed backhand volley winner. Murray held set point at 5-4, then sealed his advantage as Nieminen netted a backhand.

A quick 28-minute third set passed with Murray earning two service breaks. The Scot finished the third with 11 errors to a mere three unforced errors.

Murray ended the afternoon with 49 winners and four of 10 break point chances converted.

He is scheduled to face 26th seed Gilles Simon for a place in the round of 16. The Frenchman advanced to the third round via walkover, as opponent Illya Marchenko pulled out with a shoulder injury.
