Verdasco is becoming a bit of a train wreck, really.

I think Verdasco just played himself into physical exhaustion. One would think that he might have looked at what happened to Rafa and realized that it's not worth it to run yourself into the ground. It has cost him a better result in RG and now bounced right out of Wimbledon in the first round.

Fernando tried to recover from the clay season by not playing either of the grass court tournaments leading up to W. My guess is he was hoping to use the draw to build up his grass game. To bad it didn't work.

Hi tj600: we were right about poor Blake! Didn't expect him to go out Round 1 though. Verdasco looked care worn and world weary and couldn't string two points together. His unforced error count was dreadful. I love JW but sometimes when he's losing he seems to turn into a sulky teenager and loses focus and match!

i think he shouldve played a warm up tournie on grass. its too much of a risk to not do that before a slam.

deuce , 6/23/10 7:24 AM re: JWT, my thoughts exactly. That aggrieved look every time he loses a big point gets v.very tiresome. And also when he trudges around look world weary and too tired to play any more I want to shake him.

you are right about tsonga. I think he is such an emotional person. When he is down,he looks disappointed. But boy,you see what he does when he wins an important point or pulls of a wonderful shot. Its probably one of the reasons why he has so many valleys and peaks in a match, although he is pretty consistent in some matches.(like this one against kendrick)

Isner has just eked out a win against Mahut in a tie-break.
ed251137 , 6/23/10 3:46 PM
My mistake: forgot there is no tie-break. Still level pegging.
ed251137 , 6/23/10 3:56 PM
it's a super tiebreaker ed at the fifth set.
Winner unknown so far. The first one to blink eyes will lose.
Raindrops , 6/23/10 3:58 PM
Actually I'm watching England v. Algeria right now but keeping an eye on live-scoring at the same time.
ed251137 , 6/23/10 4:09 PM
...they are gone to outer space still battling the super tiebreaker, it is now 1120-1119 :-]] they have eclipsed the Rafa/Roger 2008 match in the finals. This the longest match ever in tennis.
Raindrops , 6/23/10 5:22 PM
You all know, of course, I was watching England v. Slovenia! So England and US go forward after all.
Luckily Isner and Mahut are still slugging it out and look like they might be for the rest of the night unless one of them drops dead from nervous exhaustion.

I had a feeling verdasco was going to lose early. I think the most like 1/4 final is Murray vs Tsonga now.(could be wrong foc.)
