The experts at Unibet weigh in on the most interesting matches of the Wimbledon fortnight.
This close first round match features the clay-favouring Spaniard Juan Carlos Ferrero and the enigmatic Belgian Xavier Malisse. Malisse reached the semi-finals here at Wimbledon in 2002 and his shotmaking is well suited to grass. Ferrero has also had a modicum of success at SW19 with a quarter final appearance here last year. Malisse has the better recent form, winning a couple of matches at Queen’s while Ferrero has been struggling of late, losing his only grass court match so far in 2010 to lowly ranked Dominik Meffert. Reports suggest that Ferrero is now feeling better than in that loss in Halle and this should be a closely fought match. Current odds slightly favour Malisse (1.75 at Unibet).
Other highlights today include the tournament bows of Rafael Nadal and Andy Murray against Kei Nishikori and Jan Hajek respectively.
