  • Rested Nadal primed for Wimbledon

    6/21/10 2:21 AM | Johan Lindahl
Rested Nadal primed for Wimbledon Rafael Nadal credits his long weekend at home in Mallorca with priming the pump for what he hopes is a fast start at Wimbledon.

The second seed headed for his native island a week ago after losing at Queen's club on grass.

"I went for a party with the friends, I played golf, I went to the beach," said the world No. 1 "I had a perfect time, I needed it."

Nadal, now owner of a fifth Roland Garros title, is ready for the major. "I'm not very tired, but I don't know if I'm fresh or not. The clay season was a hard one. But after winning three tournaments (Monte Carlo Rome, Madrid) very important tournaments for me, and Roland Garros, you lose a little bit attention for the moment.

"But I hope to be ready to play well next Tuesday (against Japan's Kei Nishikori).

The seven-time Grand Slam champion admitted that missing Wimbledon a year ago with a knee injury leaving him unable to defend his title was a blow at the time. "Wimbledon was one of the more emotional moments in my career, I worked hard all my life to improve my tennis in the rest of the surfaces other than clay," he said.

"This is probably the most important tournament of the world, so (winning) was very important for me."

Not a very substantial bit of news to get us fans yapping ...
But it's good to see that he'll reach Wimby in good physical health.
I hope he didn't get too wasted in that party with friends :)

I hope he doesn't read Ricky's blog otherwise he'll just pack up and go home.

VAMOS RAFA!

Ricky's blog?..........whats this about nadline?!

Where is this blog?

Monalysa , 6/21/10 2:31 PM

Monalysa, I'm talking about Ricky's picks where he forecast that Rafa will lose in the Qtrs to Soderling.

Nadline, by the way, I read this blog, and i was sorely disappointed with Ricky's treatment of Rafa.

And look what just happened to Federer! If this Falla was not injured and he was able to hold steady his nerves just a little, Fed would have been out in the first round!!!

Not wasting ANY of my time with those predictions........they are all baseless imo!!

The ball is round.... it's anyone's game!............. The only SURE thing in Wimby this year is that the center court is safe from rain and darkness!..... who'll be in it on the finals day is STILL.... unsure!

nadline,

Don't worry! Rafa won't be reading Ricky's picks! Even if he did, do you honestly think he would let that get to him for even a second? In a way, I kind of like the fact that some are picking Rafa to go out early here. When Rafa is under the radar, that's when he is at his best. Not only will Rafa not care what Ricky or any other online blogger thinks, he will probably appreciate not being the overwhelming favorite after RG.

We know Rafa! Forget about the predictions! I will quote Rafa again on the subject - Anyone can say what they like, but it has to happen on the court. That is the only thing that counts. Rafa has wisdom beyond his years! :)
