American Sam Querrey puts his Queen's Club title in perspective with WImbledon looming next week.
Queen's champion Sam Querrey is keeping his feet firmly planted on the grass as Wimbledon approaches, with the American admitting that Roger Federer remains the favourite for another title at the All England Club from Monday.
While the 22-year-old Querrey from California can always dream about winning the prestige grass title, the reality of the situation is reigning in his victory daydreams.
"I'd love to win Wimbledon. But I'm going with baby steps here and will try and make the third round this year. The second round is the best I've ever done there. It's possible, but I've still got some work to do - and there are still some great competitors out there you have to beat to win a Wimbledon title."
First among them for Querrey is Federer, who lost the Halle final at the weekend to Lleyton Hewitt. "Guys are still going to fear him," the American said of the Swiss. "He's still the most feared player at Wimbledon."
"Maybe he's lost a little bit of his game but he's still the greatest player ever and the defending Wimbledon champion and the guy that I'm definitely going to fear more than any player."
