USA leads Czechs, Argentina ties France The Americans are one win away from advancing to the World Team Cup final as Sam Querrey beats Jan Hajek on Thursday. In the other group, Argentina vs. France will come down to a decisive doubles match.

Sam Querrey beat Jan Hajek 6-3, 7-5 to give the United States a 1-0 lead over the Czech Republic in Red Group round-robin action at the World Team Cup in Dusseldorf, Germany on Thursday. Both teams are 2-0 overall, so the winner of the match will advance to Saturday's championship.

Querrey needed one hour and 22 minutes to put the Americans in front. He surrendered serve once in the opening set, but be broke Hajek three times including at 5-3. The underdog Czech managed to hold serve throughout most of the second, but Querrey struck when it mattered most for a match-clinching break at 6-5.

John Isner is expected to face Tomas Berdych on Friday, but the 6'9'' American was replaced in a match earlier this week by Robby Ginepri. If Berdych beats either Isner or Ginepri, the Red Group will come down to a doubles match that will most likely feature Bob and Mike Bryan against Hajek and Lukas Dlouhy.

In the Blue Group, a decisive doubles showdown is already assured. Jeremy Chardy of France took care of Argentina's Juan Monaco 6-3, 6-4 to give his country a 1-0 lead, but Eduardo Schwank evened the score by defeating Paul-Henri Mathieu 3-6, 6-3, 6-2.

Monaco and Horacio Zeballos are expected to take on Chardy and Nicolas Mahut.
