Andy Murray is hoping to end almost a century of hard times for home hopes at Queen's club as he bids next month to score a repeat title at the elite venue.
The last time a Brit backed up a trophy at the Wimbledon warm-up was 1914.
That's even longer than the draught between Wimbledon championships for the luckless locals. Fred Perry last took the honours at the All England club in 1936.
Murray, back to his fourth ranking, is out to change the world on grass. "If I play my best I've got a chance of successfully defending the title and doing well at Wimbledon,” he said with the consuming challenge of the clay season still to be dealt with this month and next before slipping onto the lawns.
"I know it won't be easy, there is a strong field. It's a great time of the year though and I'm really looking forward to it."
The tournament starting June 7 will be populated by six of the world Top ten, including Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, Andy Roddick, Fernando Verdasco and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga.
Wimbledon semi-finalist Murray won the 2009 event without the loss of a set as he beat James Blake in the final. "Last year I played some really good tennis to win the tournament,” he said.

Everything will depend on his draw!......... Novak is no stranger to reaching the finals there.... Roddick is a steel wall on grass..... Rafa is an even harder proposition for Murray.
GOOD LUCK to his DREAM!

With that field, well ... we'll see how he does. Rafa didn't play last year.
