Andy Murray is fighting to lift his spirits after losing three straight matches for the first time in four years as he crashed out 6-2, 6-1 to German Philip Kohlschreiber at the Monte Carlo Masters.
The disappointing result could mean the world No. 4 Scot, whose ranking is set to slide at least another north after reaching the semi-finals a year ago, might still apply for a wild card entry into Barcelona next week.
Murray was considering his options after going down in the principality following back-to-back defeats at Indian Wells and Miami. "I haven't spoken to the guys about it yet," said Murray, watched in defeat by his clay coach Alex Corretja. "I'll wait and see, speak to them, see what I think what's going to work best. You
always plan for the best-case scenario."
"I might need to tweak it (the calendar) a bit. The last couple of months haven't gone as well as I would have liked."
Murray said he's trying to keep a level head in the situation: "I have to make sure that I don't panic. Everyone can go through periods where they don't play well. I've lost to good players. Obviously, the score line has not been very close in the last couple of matches.
"I just need to start playing better. Last year, the whole year, I was very consistent. The years before that, I was a little bit inconsistent. But I need to try and find my consistency, then I'll start to play well."
In the heyday after his Australian Open final against Roger Federer, the one-time No. 2 had thought playing the Masters 1000s in Rome and Madrid would be sufficient clay preparation for the French Open.

The press has made a world star of him. While he was way toooo young. Now they are disappointed. Now they need somebody for crucifixion.... and he is obvious target.
I don't like him to much but anyway... leave him alone. There is to heavy pressure on his shoulders... like the destiny of British Empire is depending on Andy's performance.

I can't believe how hard everyone is being on Muzza. Here's an excerpt from nbcsports:
"You just know that things are going from bad to worse for Andy Murray, who was beaten like a rented mule (6-2, 6-1) by Philipp Kohlschreiber of Germany in Monte Carlo, when you read his standout comment: "I have to make sure that I don't panic."
Wow. I don't get it. He did okay at IW, and sure he lost a coupla R1s but he recently reached the final of a slam! It's not as bad a situation as everyone is making out to be. Just leave the guy alone!
