Argentina’s Juan Monaco and Juan Carlos Ferrero of Spain moved into the second round at the Rolex Masters with wins on Monday.
Juan Monaco def. Jarkko Nieminen 7-5, 7-5
Finland’s Jarkko Nieminen gave the early evening crowd in Monte Carlo a treat by putting up a fight against Juan Monaco. The Argentine was heavily favored in the match. He is one of the premier clay courters at the moment, so the close match was something of a surprise. The first set featured 5 service breaks total, the last of which Monaco secured while Nieminen was serving to force a tiebreaker. The second set played out as a near carbon-copy of the first – both men broke serve twice, but Monaco got the break at the most crucial time. The Argentine will play Michael Berrer in the second round.
Juan Carlos Ferrero def. Marcel Granollers 6-0, 6-3
Juan Carlos Ferrero of Spain dished up a beatdown of countryman Marcel Granollers. Though Granollers is ranked 89 in the world to Ferrero’s 16, this was expected to be a more competitive match. Granollers is a clay court specialist who is at home on the terre battue, but Ferrero completely obliterated him. The match seemed to have been determined in the second game of the match. Granollers fought to hold for nearly 8 minutes, but Ferrero eventually prevailed to go up 2-0. Before long, Ferrero had served up a bagel.
Granollers had a brief taste of being in the lead in the second set, when he broke Ferrero in the opening game, but the triumph was short lived. Ferrero broke back with a tidy game at 2-1. The world No. 16 permitted his opponent just one more game in the match. Ferrero will take on Benjamin Becker in the second round.

I've honestly recently wondered whether I'd prosper in seeing some of the Monte Carlo Masters because I was a late comer with the 'nets' as of 2009. But, I was successful for I did find we were receiving them additionally together with the ATP 1000s. Very happy then.
The funny thing was I fell to my nap and felt like someone waking me to find existed the 'match' of Monaco & Nieminen. It was a rapid fortress of lovely measure on pace! Mng - it was fast, but smooth. Niemo was the toast of the nite with his funny outfit, Mon still wearing his 'green hilight' top.
I hope Niemo did not hurt his leg when he seemed to split it in the second set. "Applauses of success" to Mon cos it's been a little strain I'm positive yet, all for good cause.... Happy week.

Lol, hmmm. I suppose you can't really blame a person for living life barely contained. As long as he does well at his real job, it's all good as far as I'm concerned. Should you and I hear stories from the tournament drivers ala Safin at any point, then I'll worry. ;)

Hello once more!
Imposing Ferrero has established prowess of consecutive merit. The two were in the final of The Copa Telmex of this year, 2010. Mon needs to creep up his discipline. Eg - If you have a 'nose bleed' infront of people, take accordingly such an extent with heed. Mon tends to 'yelp' when he wins a point.
I registered more matches last nite and looking forward to heaps more. Thanks.

Kelli, can you point to an article to support what you're alluding to? Other than the usual unsupported allegations from another tennis board, I haven't read anything. Thanks in advance.

Pico is being taken to the woodshed in the press right now. Poor thing, but this is what happens when you fail to....exercise discretion, so to speak. Perhaps that explains why the match with Nieminen was closer than we expected. ;)
