    Houston - Zeballos through, Korolev ousted Horacio Zeballos passed through his opening-round match in Houston on Tuesday, following the retirement of Taylor Dent. The Argentine is joined by Ryan Sweeting, who took out Evgeny Korolev in three sets.

    Sixth seed Horacio Zeballos made round two at the US Men’s Clay Court Championship on Tuesday afternoon, as opponent Taylor Dent withdrew after the opening set. The 24-year-old Argentine had converted three of eight break points, when the American called it quits at the 37-minute mark.

    Zeballos is scheduled to meet Dudi Sela in the round of 16. Sela held on to dismiss American Jesse Levine Monday night, 6-4, 7-6(6).

    (Q) Ryan Sweeting def. (5) Evgeny Korolev 6-3, 4-6, 6-2

    Qualifier Ryan Sweeting scored his first ATP World Tour-level victory of the season, ousting fifth seed Evgeny Korolev in three sets, 6-3, 4-6, 6-2. Sweeting pocketed three breaks of the Korolev serve in the decider, notching the win in one hour and 55 minutes. The 22-year-old American, ranked No. 150 in the world, had not won a tour-level match since July 2009, when he made round two in Los Angeles.

    Sweeting faces veteran Nicolas Massu for a place in the quarterfinal. The Chilean defeated Mischa Zverev of Germany 6-4, 6-2 early Tuesday.
