Seventh seed Marin Cilic eased into the round of 16 with a 76-minute victory over 25th seed Marcos Baghdatis. The 21-year-old Croat held ten of 10 service games without facing a break point. Cilic won 25 of 29 points on first-serve en route to his first career win against former the World No. 8.

Fernando Verdasco rallied from a set and a break deficit late Monday to defeat Jurgen Melzer in three sets. The Spaniard overcame 12 double faults, but managed to post a victory after two hours and three minutes. With the third-round win, Verdasco extended his series lead to 4-1 against Melzer.

    (16) Tomas Berdych def. Horacio Zeballos 6-4, 7-5
