American Wayne Odesnik could be out of tennis for up to two years if the ITF comes down hard after his civil infraction in Australia for importing human growth hormone (HGH) in January.
The international sanctioning body refuses to reveal its next move after the 24-year-old ranked 98th paid an $8,000 fine in Brisbane court.
Customs officials found the six milligrams of the substance in his luggage in January when he arrived to play the Brisbane ATP event.
The ITF says it is studying the case now that the civil action is closed. Odesnik failed to qualify for the Miami Masters after losing in the first round this month at Indian Wells.
As per usual, the ITF will send a report to antidoping body for further action and recommendation.
