Roger Federer's unexpected ouster at Indian Wells will send the world No. 1 onto the practise court with even more determination as he attempts to make corrections at the Miami Masters after his early exit.
Federer was steaming over his lack of closing after missing on three match point chance in his three-set loss to Marcos Baghdatis in the desert.
It was the first time since the Rome final in 2006 against Rafael Nadal that the 16-time Grand Slam winner had failed to win a match where he had held match points.
"It was a decent match, but maybe wrong choices at the wrong time for me," said the clearly disappointed Swiss. "Maybe I was going for too much, maybe playing too passively.
"That's not something you can really work on. That comes through playing matches, and that's what I need. I hope to get more of it in Miami, but I will definitely play a lot of practice sets, that's for sure, until then."
Federer and family will make their way to Florida for what should be another week of solid training in the steamy conditions of South Florida.
"It wasn't the greatest match of all time from his side, either," Federer said Baghdatis, who had lost in all six of their previous meetings including Melbourne.
"The Australian Open final was much higher quality. Just because he beat me doesn't mean he's played the match of his life. He's a good player, he's played many of the top guys. Tonight he just hung in there, and that was enough."

Good day everybody.
I proceeded a need complaisant to include the entire family in certain conditions. Installating of more favourable opps for the youngs. We ended up 'recording' the series of events from the Indian Wells tourns, Wed 17th Mar, 010 laughing besides ourselves.... Roger and Marcos earned a replay - possibly the most distinguished match of the day. I knew Marcos could aim higher for the win. In the end he did....I too observed Juan's match with Garcia early this morng. A good perfomance so far by the Guiller. Juan lucky enough to win the second then the last set cleverly. Not too much to say only I laughed when he poured water in a hurry over his back....I did glimpse most matches inc a one of my favourites, Berdy.........Excellent.
