nIt was 3 and out for the German Davis Cup team as they went down to a strong French contingent.
Sunday will feature a pair of dead rubbers in Toulon, France. The French Davis Cup team has already sealed up a first round victory over Germany.
The 3-0 victory for the French began on Friday with Gael Monfils’ straight set victory over Philipp Kohlschreiber. Jo-Wilfried Tsonga followed up with a second straight set victory over Benjamin Becker.
Doubles team Julien Benneteau and Michael Llodra could not quite get the job done in straight sets over Christopher Kas and Kohlschreiber. They dropped the 3rd set 1-6, but the small victory was nowhere near enough to give Germany a finger-hold in the rubber. France went on to win in 4.
