Second seed Ivo Karlovic and two-time finalist James Blake advanced to the Delray Beach quarterfinal Thursday evening, each recording a victory in straight sets.

Ivo Karlovic booked his fourth quarterfinal berth of the season on Thursday, downing Daniel Brands of Germany in two tie-break sets. The second-seeded Croat, already a quarterfinalist in Doha, Zagreb and Memphis, crushed 26 aces en route to a one-hour and 45-minute victory in the round of 16. Karlovic twice save set-point in the opener, hitting aces both times. The 30-year-old missed his first match point at 6-5 in the second breaker, but connected at 7-6.
Karlovic completed the match without facing break point, holding 12 of 12 service games. He faces seventh seed James Blake in the next round.
(7) James Blake def. Robin Haase 6-3, 6-1
James Blake eased into the final eight, following his straight-sets dismissal of Robin Haase early Thursday afternoon. The two-time Delray Beach runner up converted five of 11 break point chances, sealing the win in just 55 minutes. The American trailed 1-2 in the first set, but recovered to capture four of the next 5 games. Blake, who surrendered just a single service game, collected 12 of 18 points on second-serve.
