Bellucci clips Monaco to win Movistar Open Thomaz Bellucci survived a second-set lull in Santiago late Sunday to capture his second ATP World Tour title. The third-seeded Brazilian defeated 2008 finalist and second seed Juan Monaco, 6-2, 0-6, 6-4.

Thomaz Bellucci earned his first title of the 2010 season on Sunday, prevailing in three sets over Juan Monaco. The Brazilian shook off a lackluster 0-6 second set to notch a 6-2, 0-6, 6-4 victory in two hours and five minutes. With the championship win, Bellucci improves his record to 2-1 in tour finals, having pocketed his maiden career title in Gstaad last season. The 22-year-old became the first Brazilian to secure the Movistar Open since compatriot and former world No. 1 Gustavo Kuerten hoisted the trophy in 2000.

Bellucci began the match quickly, building a 4-0, double-break advantage with help of some solid forehand strikes. Monaco struggled with his groundstrokes, donating most of errors from the forehand wing. The Argentine recovered one of the breaks to pull within 2-4, but he could go no further. The Brazilian used the weight of his forehand to force an error from Monaco, regaining a double-break lead at 5-2. Bellucci held double set point in short order, then closed the 6-2 set with a forehand pass at the 41-minute mark.

Set two signaled a completed turnaround from Monaco, who won six consecutive games in 33 minutes. Bellucci dropped his level of play, gifting 13 unforced errors in the set. The Argentine leveled the contest, completing the bagel-set after facing a lone break point in the first game.

Bellucci steadied himself to collect break-point chances at 1-0 and 2-1 in the third. The Brazilian failed to convert either one, but broke through in the fifth game. Monaco fell behind 2-3 as his second serve allowed Bellucci ample time to blast a return winner. The Brazilian controlled his nerve to reach double championship point at 5-4. A heavy forehand once again forced Monaco into error, cementing the title-winning run for Bellucci.

I sense the inaugral vibe of enunciation of gratitude. Thus a stance salute towards Thomas Bellucci for this inca'ntation replica of triumph consent at the Movistar, Men's Tennis, Chile 2010. It was the first chance I discover him as tennis player, surprised he defeated the tougher adversary in Juan Monaco. Juan will savour remedial support although he is a most terrific fantastic sportsman for me.
The unpredictable shall enable more players to participate, at its greatest season, just as they develop...... Greatly done.

I sense it too, tauojtcer - you took the words right out of my mouth, frankly.
