Paes adds cinema role to list of career credits Australian Open mixed doubles champion Leander Paes has added to his off-court resume, with Indian newspapers reporting that the 36-year-old is well on the way to completing a film role in Bollywood.

The winner of 11 career Grand Slam titles in doubles has already completed a month of shooting on what is described as a psychological thriller following a course of acting lessons.

His new career has been worked into a full-time tennis schedule. Paes, an Olympic bronze medalist, took time away from his game for location shots in West Bengal.

Reports indicate the film will be released by the end of 2010. But despite his brush with the cinema, Paes makes it sound like tennis remains his first love.

"One of the first questions I was asked at my age, to continue winning Grand Slams, that was something we were talking about at the prize ceremony. It was my 21st Grand Slam final, 11th win.

"The beauty of continually putting the hard work day in and day out in the gym or on the track when you're not feeling great, these are the things you play for."
