Juan Monaco made a strong debut at the 2010 Movistar Open late Monday, downing Nicolas Massu in straight sets. The Argentine is joined in round two by Peter Luczak, who ousted 8th seed Potito Starace.

Second seed Juan Monaco improved his record to 3-2 over Nicolas Massu Monday evening. The Argentine moves through to the round of 16 following a 6-3, 6-4 victory in one hour and 45 minutes.
Monaco secured multiple breaks of the Massu serve, including one at 3-2 in the opening set. The 25-year-old surrendered a 2-0 lead in set two, but regained the advantage in the fifth game. Monaco, who captured 30 of 37 first-serve points, connected on his fourth match-point opportunity to seal the win.
The second seed will take on fellow Argentine Juan Ignacio Chela in the next round. Chela defeated wildcard Jorge Aguilar early Monday, 7-5, 6-2.

Peter Luczak posted his first career-win over eighth seed Potito Starace Monday afternoon. The Australian saved all three of the break points he faced to record a 7-6(3), 6-4 victory in an hour and 46 minutes. With success in the opening round, the 30-year-old pockets his maiden win at the Movistar Open.
