No. 1 seed Roger Federer made quick work of Belgian Christophe Rochus to advance to the second round of the Qatar Exxon Mobil Open.
World No. 1 Roger Federer needed just under an hour (57 minutes) to dispatch of Christophe Rochus in the opening round of Doha.
Federer smacked 12 aces for the match and he fought off each of the 3 break points Rochus earned (all in the second set). The Swiss man was crisp and dominant especially on the return. Federer won 51% of the points on the Rochus serve.
The dominant performance sends Federer into the second round against Evgeny Korolev of Russia.
Joining Federer in the second round will be nostalgic favorite Younes El Aynaoui from Morocco. The veteran received a wildcard into Doha after being inactive since 2008. The Moroccan defeated American qualifier Ryler Deheart to advance to the second round. He will take on Steve Darcis from Belgium.
