Roger Federer will usher in his year with a first round clash against Belgium’s Christophe Rochus at the ExxonMobil Open.
Reigning world No. 1 Roger Federer comes into 2010 off a banner year, where he collected his first French Open title, and then added a Wimbledon crown to his collection (surpassing the Pete Sampras mark of 14 Grand Slams). He made the finals of the US Open, where he lost a five-set heartbreaker to Juan Martin Del Potro of Argentina.
Federer participated in the Abu Dhabi exhibition event, where he performed well, but was defeated (unofficially) by Robin Soderling for the first time.
Rochus is ranked 86 in the world and he divides his time between playing on the main ATP circuit and the Challenger tour. His best result of the season came back in February in Delray Beach where he made the semifinals.
Federer and Rochus have only met on 1 occasion, all the way back in 2001 at Wimbledon. Federer took the win in easy straight sets. Expect a similar result on Tuesday.

Rochus stands no chance against Federer.

I think Rochus should complain, the player's seat is too high for him, and the poor chaps legs are dangling during the break. When you can't even relax during the break, what chance do you stand against a top player like Federer?

clinical performance but was expected.a slightly sterner test awaits roger now cant wait for the semis and finals al 3 top seeds on fire
