Xavier Malisse and Yanina Wickmayer will appeal one-year suspensions handed down this month for violating the controversial "whereabouts" rule imposed by international anti-drugs bosses in an effort to keep the game clean.
The pair was caught out for three times for failing to report their daily locations so that tester could find possibly them.
Both players - 2002 Wimbledon semi-finalist Malisse and this year's US Open semi-finalist Wickmayer - have indicated they will appeal the verdicts.
Lawyers for the pair say that the draconian punishment is much too harsh and will contest the sentences on those grounds. Malisse, 29 and ranked 95th, said said that should his ban stand, it would likely mean the end of his career.
An appeal to the European Commission in Brussels and the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg could force a chance in the rule by WADA, the world anti-doping watchdog. In addition an appeal is being made to the Lausanne-based Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).
Wickmayer, 20, failed three times to report her whereabouts while missed one surprise test the failed to report his whereabouts on two occasions. If an athlete fails three times to advise his upcoming locations for a three-month period, sanctions are possible.
