  • Djokovic double-bagels Hernych in Basel

    11/5/09 5:33 PM | Ricky Dimon
Djokovic double-bagels Hernych in Basel Novak Djokovic destroys Jan Hernych 6-0, 6-0 in the Basel second round on Thursday afternoon. Next up for Djokovic is a quarterfinal clash with either Stanislas Wawrinka or Jarkko Nieminen.

Novak Djokovic served up a rare double-bagel on Thursday afternoon.

Djokovic humiliated Jan Hernych 6-0, 6-0 in the second round of the Davidoff Swiss Indoors after just 52 minutes of dominant tennis. Basel's No. 2 will now comfortably await the winner of a match between Jarkko Nieminen and Switzerland's own Stanislas Wawrinka.

Opening the match on serve, Djokovic promptly lost the first two points to fall behind 0-30. After that, however, the world No. 3 won an amazing 14 of the next 15 points en route to a 3-0, 30-0 lead. He soon broke for a commanding 4-0 advantage and did not lose a single game in the entire first set. The only point at which Hernych was even remotely competitive came at 4-0, when Djokovic survived a marathon service game while saving three break points.

Although it did not seem possible, Djokovic was even more dominant in the second. Only once did Hernych take a game to deuce (serving at 0-3), and the 53rd-ranked Czech won only ten points in the whole set, including a mere two against his opponent's serve. Djokovic's sixth and final service break finished off the devastating performance in style.

Djokovic wrapped up his literally flawless effort with four aces and one double-fault. He won a ridiculous 62 percent of the points even when Hernych put a first serve in play, and the 22-year-old abused Hernych's second serve to the tune of winning81 percent of those points.

Ha ha ha ha! Welcome, Sar! People, let me introduce Sar to you. She's great, clever, non biased, devoted fan of Nole, very nice poster, great to talk to and very positive! I'm glad she joined our bandwagon of Nole's number one fiesta! Allez alleeeez...

Duronole , 11/6/09 12:31 AM

Sar, use your time to get familiar with the site. I hope you'll like it. If you go to the exact page I gave you, you will see what a party we had today. It might take some of your time, but I think it's worth of it. Like as we knew Nole will produce bagels today...
In Novak we trust!
Good bye till tomorow.

Posmatrac, my friend, I assume you already heard everything about the match but let me just tell you, Nole was brilliant! Very nice net play, lots of ground strokes and baseline battles, Nole agile, fast, determined, fearless, always a step ahead and with very clever ideas... He mixed his play a lot, and I'll point out one spectacular forehand spin lob on the set point. See you, posmatrac, and don't be absent that long next time!

Duronole , 11/6/09 12:53 AM

Thanks Duro, for the introduction. I will take time to read the posts here and get used to the posters.

OllyK , 11/6/09 10:19 AM

Oh what to say, such an incredible appearance, what a tennis, our golden guy gave him a tennis lesson, spectacular, effective, with no emotions at all, that's the star, but must admit something went wrong with Hernych, he even didn't wanna try anything, so many mistakes, nevertheless, Novak was simply saying GREAT, keep strolling with your marvellous game dearest boy, God bless you...

gordana , 11/6/09 11:36 AM

Just one of the title: 'Super Novak demolishes Hernych, blasted aside Czech Jan Hernych, Novak crushed him to reach 18th tour-level quarter-final of the season, 68 wins this year, only 18 lost, that's the Nole everybody loves him, ole, ole, loveeeee you Novak...
