Old-timers Pete Sampras and Andre Agassi are set for another quick payday over the weekend in Macau as the pair plays an Asian exhibition.
But the pair of over-30 former rivals insist their showpiece won't be just a hit-and-giggle as they square off at the gambling enclave in the South China sea, which was handed back to China in 1999.
"Whenever I stepped out against Andre when we were playing, it was like a heavyweight fight. That’s one thing I miss," said Sampras, whose last appearance near a court was as a spectator at July's Wimbledon final where he saw Roger Federer break his record of 14 career Grand Slam titles.
Sampras, 38, ended with a 20-13 record over the 39-year-old Agassi, with their last match the 2002 US Open final which Sampras won before retiring.
"It's going to be competitive tennis—obviously not quite as cut-throat as it once was—but I still feel we can both play quite well," added Sampras. "Our egos are pretty big. Once the first point starts, I’m going to want to beat him".
Sampras and Agassi own 22 Grand Slam titles between them.
