Feliciano Lopez successfully ended a run of six opening-round losses, following his straight-sets defeat of fellow Spaniard Guillermo Garcia-Lopez on Sunday. Igor Kunitsyn rallied to down compatriot Igor Andreev.

Feliciano Lopez put an end to a string of first-round losses on Sunday, knocking out compatriot Guillermo Garcia Lopez 6-3, 6-4. The 28-year-old, unable to record a Tour-level victory since Wimbledon, did not surrender serve during the 83-minute contest. The 33rd-ranked Lopez captured 33 of 41 first-service points and earns his 10th win of the season.
Lopez awaits the winner of the first-round battle between countryman David Ferrer and Richard Gasquet.

Igor Kunitysn rallied from a set deficit to dismiss compatriot Igor Andreev 6-7, 6-4, 6-2 in two hours and 12 minutes. The 28-year-old, currently ranked 46th, secured five of 9 break points on the day, notching his first win since the US Open Series in New Haven.
Kunitsyn takes on fellow Russian and sixth seed Nikolay Davydenko in the second round. Kunitsyn faces Davydenko for the second consecutive time, having lost a first-round match to his countryman at last week’s China Open.
