The players are set to bring their hard-court act to Shanghai as the eighth of nine ATP World Tour Masters 1000 events commences on Sunday. Feliciano Lopez and Igor Andreev highlight a modest opening day one.
Feliciano Lopez vs. Guillermo Garcia-Lopez
Feliciano Lopez looks to level the series with compatriot Guillermo Garcia-Lopez, trailing 1-2 entering into their opening-round match. Garcia-Lopez posted a 6-4, 6-7, 6-3, first-round victory over his countryman in Bastad earlier this season.
Lopez heads into Shanghai with a 9-19 season mark. The 28-year-old Madrid Native returns to competition after an early exit in Kuala Lumpur (lost to Vassallo Arguello). The Spaniard has suffered six consecutive first-round losses in tournaments since Queen’s Club.
Garcia-Lopez was forced to retire with illness during his first-round match with Juan Monaco in Tokyo. The Spaniard is 24-22 for the year, capturing his maiden career title in Kitzbuhel over Julien Benneteau in May.
Igor Andreev vs. Igor Kunitsyn
Igor Andreev meets countryman Igor Kunitsyn for the second time Sunday evening. Andreev is 0-1 against his elder compatriot, having lost a first-round match in Memphis last February. Kunitsyn rallied to knock out Andreev in three sets, 1-6, 6-4, 6-3.
Andreev returns to competition following a first-round ousting from wildcard Marin Cilic in Beijing. The 26-year-old holds a 27-27 record this season, earning semifinal berths in Casablanca, Gstaad and New Haven.
Kunitsyn attempts to regroup after an opening-round defeat at the China Open. The 28-year-old fell to fourth-seeded countryman Nikolay Davydenko, 6-1, 6-7, 6-2. Kunitsyn is 12-26 in 2009 and looks to pocket his first win since New Haven.

Hey Ricky,
Yes, i know its off topic but what do you think Gulbis' chances are against Djokovic in the second round(if he gets through) I thought he has a pretty good chance because even though Djokovic is in the Beijing Final he might be too tired especially if he doesn't win. Would he most likely win if Djokoivc wins or loses today? Thanks Ricky bruz
