Andy Murray will travel to London for visits with a specialist after re-aggravating an existing wristunjyr from the US Open during a Davis Cup relegation victory in the British tie with Poland.
The Scot world No. 3 is fearful of compromising the rest of his season by playing on the wrist which flared at the US Open. He won the opening rubber 6-4, 6-2, 6-4 over Poland's No. 678 Michal Przysiezny in Liverpool.
"I don't want to sacrifice the lot to play in the tie and end up hurting myself so badly that I can't play for a few months", he told the BBC. "Every time I play on it, it's making it worse".
"You never know how much damage you can do to yourself, you just hope it doesn't get so bad you can't play".
Murray had hoped that rest earlier this week would put him right, but found out during the Friday match it was not to be the case.
Murray also hurt his right wrist two years ago and missed three months. he is not going to rush any further recovery: "If it takes four months to get better, it takes four months. If it takes a week, then it'll take a week".
Murray is entered in the Tokyo ATP event next month followed by the Shanghai Masters.

Said on beeb Andy injured his wrist at Cincinatti. Clearly not OK during Davis Cup.
Genuinely injured at USOpen so explains why he lost so easily to Cilic. However, he never offered this as an excuse so all credit to him. Also, although I wish he hadn't, all credit risking further injury by playing 3 matches in Davis Cup.
