Rafael Nadal's knee and abdominal strain problems have not prevented officials from naming the world number three to the Spanish Davis Cup team which will face Israel in a semi-final tie next weekend.
Captain Albert Costa has chosen Nadal to lead a squad comprised of Tommy Robredo, David Ferrer and Feliciano Lopez in doubles against the Midle East tennis minnow nation.
Nadal's fitness has been spotty at best, with the four-time French Open champion forced to miss his title defence at Wimbledon as he sat out two months to rest a pair of injured knees.
He has also been suffering with his abdominal strain in recent weeks and needed rare treatment on court during his third-round US Open win over Nicolas Almagro.
The tie in Murcia against Israel is set for September 18-20. The Spaniards own a 3-0 record in that series, with the winner to face either Croatia or the Czech Republic.
Spain are dominant, winning 16 of their last home ties and bidding for a seventh Davis Cup final. It is a first for Israel, who have upset Sweden and Russian this season in the worldwide team competition.

Inter-ruption, It is I. TT. . .Things are appearing in collisions collide that can and should be dealt with in a manner. Nobody is perfect and Rafa has however come a very long way and so as Roge. The innocennuture nature is a thing of the unknown as we all have to grow up with certain approaches and it takes time to realise what and how each needs to deal with particulary situations. The loveliest of glories is when you know that no matter the cost, whichever, your rivals or in this case, opponents, as the world, is happy with the way we handle the opportunities in public.

A great event this should be. Stimulously Israel have been performing at the high level one wouldn't expect. I do stenously wish for the both teams a fantastic preparation to the tour.
Rafael is a man for freedom. So lucky to grab this chance of a lifetime. He'd never jeopardise the chance unless the knees give in on him with a great unforeseen force. But ever, like others, when faced with big challenges, we ensure to participate at our best to succeed at any cost. Taking it in our stride..
