Novak Djokovic has confirmed he will add Todd Martin to his staff this week. But the Serb has also knocked back reports that he is parting ways with longtime mentor Marian Vajda.
"It's gonna be this week," Djokovic said after losing the Cincinnati final to Roger Federer in the final tune-up before the US Open start next Monday.
"But I'm not stopping with my coach,I'm not stopping work with him. I'm gonna work with both of them."
Djokovic is following the example set by world No. 2 Andy Murray, who travels with a rotating set of specialized coaches just to keep him self interested and motivated.
Martin, a two-time Grand Slam finalist and former Top 5 player, has Djokovic's vote of confidence. "Todd played on the highest tennis level for a long time, that makes him very experienced. I'm very, very happy, and I really look forward to it. He's got a lot of ideas and things I can improve on, a lot of things in my game.
"One week is not gonna be enough for all of that, but it's a process."

Smart move, Nole. It's always good to have someone with experience to coach him in his game...Nole's making all the right moves to improve his career. He really has grown up a lot to such a thoughtful and gracious young man with a fantastic game to boot. The way I see it, Nole's still developing his game and finding his ground a little, and maybe struggle a little with confidence because he's admittedly not as experienced as Roger and Rafa
As I've always said - Nole's young. He has a long long career in front of him, if he strategically improves on his fitness especially, he's going to be one of the biggest forces in tennis. Also, he is similar to Roger and Rafa in the aspect of "all surfaces" I think. He can play really well on all surfaces as evidenced by the fact that he is one of the few players EVER to reach at least the semis of all Grand Slams on three different surfaces.
I'm waiting to see him at the top and see him dominate. Nole will get there, it's a matter of when.

My dearest Novak, one more time you've showed, how devoted young man you are, Vajda is first of all, your family friend, then coach, he's very good man who really cares about you and your career, it's very good decision to 'mix' two experts, I don't have any doubt in your way of thinking, wish you all the best in upcoming days with new member of your team , and as you said to Serbian press, it's very difficult to be the number 1 in this era, cause world has two best players ever, Federer and Nadal, one more statement typical for you, you admit the fact, but trying to do your best to get closer in the future, God blessed you dear, and hopefully he'll help you to achieve your goals one day, forever with you...
