    Simon advances, Hewitt ousts Soderling Gilles Simon is through to the third round of the Western & Southern Financial Group Masters after recording his fourth career win over Igor Andreev. Hewitt took out Soderling in three sets.

    Gilles Simon advanced to the round of 16 in Cincinnati, following his 7-6, 6-7, 6-1 victory over Igor Andreev. With the second-round win, the 9th-seeded Frenchman extends his lead to 4-0 in the head-to-head series with the Russian. After splitting two tie-break sets, Simon earned a break of the Andreev serve at 2-1 in the decider. The Frenchman secured an insurance break to lead 5-1, closing the contest on his second match point opportunity. Andreev struck a total of 53 unforced errors during the match, unable to covert any of his eight break point chances. Simon hit eight aces and 31 winners, pocketing a win in two hours and 20 minutes.

    Simon will take on the winner of the second-round clash between eighth seed Nikolay Davydenko and Igor Kunitsyn. The 24-year-old holds a 2-1 advantage over Davydenko and is 1-0 against Kunitsyn.

    Lleyton Hewitt def. (12) Robin Soderling 3-6, 7-6, 6-4

    Lleyton Hewitt moved into the second round Tuesday afternoon, rallying from a set down to upset French Open runner-up and 12th seed Robin Soderling. The Australian saved two match points during the two-hour and 10-minute encounter, holding on to snag a 3-6, 7-6, 6-4 victory. Hewitt successfully erased match point at 5-6 in the second set tie-break with an ace. Soderling earned another chance to close at 8-7, but failed to finish the match. The former World No. 1, who withstood 19 aces from the Soderling racket, improves to 3-0 lifetime against the Swede.

    Hewitt faces Benjamin Becker in the next round on Wednesday. The German defeated Argentine Martin Vassallo Arguello in the opening round, 6-3, 6-3.
