India’s Somdev Devvarman handily defeated No. 6 seed Marin Cilic in the second round of the Legg Mason Tennis Classic.
Revenge was sweet for Somdev Devvarman. In his first ever ATP tour final early this year, he was defeated by none other than Marin Cilic of Croatia. Devvarman was able to return the favor in Washington on Tuesday evening.
Devvarman was not particularly dominant in the first set. The Indian faced 6 break points, Cilic 2. The difference in the set was that Devvarman was able to successfully fend off all but one, whereas Cilic went 0-2.
Cilic was similarly poor on serve in the second set. He was able to convert the one break point opportunity he had against Devvarman, but his own service games were shaky enough to allow the Indian 5 chances to break. Another two converted break points for Devvarman gave him the unlikely straight set victory and a pass into the next round. Marin Cilic will likely begin preparing for the Montreal Masters.

Great performance by Somdev. He has been getting better with every match this week.
He got broken at 5-4 in the first, but broke back at 5-5 and this time served it out. He also gave a break back in the second at 5-2, but served it out at 5-4.
Huge FH down the line on match point to finish off what he called "the biggest win of my career."
