Robby Ginepri has erased any doubts about his fitness after recovering from a burst appendix this spring, carrying confidence from his weekend title in Indianapolis into the LA event this week.
The American who shot up 39 ranking spots to 56th as a result of his win over Sam Querrey missed two months of the season and loss nearly 15 kilograms during his recovery from surgery.
He came to the Midwest where he won in 2005 unsure of his chances of ever getting back into the Top 20. "Without results, you start questioning your game", Ginepri confessed after lifting his season record to 9-13 with his third career title. "I haven't been to final in four years (last one at Indy)".
"You question if you can play at this level any more, it creeps into back of mind. But this is a true confidence boost for the summer. I'll go to LA very excited. I feel fit and ready to fight some more".
The one disappointment for Ginepri might be his lack of an actual trophy, Indy has never bothered to give even replicas to winners, making an exception in 2000 when Gustavo Kuerten claimed the first hardcourt title of his career at the venue.

That is a crock for any tourney to do! Not give a replica trophy to commemorate a win??? What's next? A big cardboard check at the ceremony but no actual check? You can't tell me that the Indy tour organizers can't find a way to provide a player who plays hard to win their tourney, a cup, plate or SOMETHING to show for their effort!
