Top-seeded Dmitry Tursunov defeats Marcos Daniel in straight sets on Thursday in Indianapolis. Tursunov is joined in the quarterfinals by Frank Dancevic, a straight-set winner over No. 5 seed Benjamin Becker.
(1) Dmitry Tursunov d. Marcos Daniel 6-3, 6-3
Playing in his second match of the day, Daniel put up little resistance against Tursunov as the No. 1 seed reached the quarterfinals of the Indianapolis Tennis Championships on Thursday after just one hour and nine minutes. Daniel had crushed Taylor Dent earlier in the day in a rain-delayed first-round match, but it was a much different story for the 31-year-old Brazilian in round two. Tursunov lost only six points in five service games as he cruised through the first set with a single break of serve.
The 27th-ranked Russian surrendered serve once in the second frame of play, but more than made up for it with three breaks of his own. Daniel served at 48 percent in set two and won less than half of the points on both his first and second serves. The poor serving performance never allowed Daniel to be competitive against his heavily-favored opponent. Tursunov, who recorded nine aces and one double-fault, will do battle with Frank Dancevic on Friday for a spot in the semifinals.
Frank Dancevic d. (5) Benjamin Becker 6-2, 7-5
Dancevic was devastating on serve as he dispatched Becker in a crisp 57 minutes in the Indianapolis second round on Thursday. The 121st-ranked Canadian lost a mere one point in four service games and used to breaks to dominate the first set 6-2. Becker, meanwhile, destroyed his own cause by putting in a dismal 29 percent of his first serves throughout the opening frame of play.
The 45th-ranked German at least managed to be more competitive in the second, but a late loss of serve ended his comeback efforts. Becker never got a look at a break point the entire way, although he won eight return points--far better than in the first set--during set two. Dancevic finished the day winning 26 of 29 (89 percent) first-serve points while firing nine aces and no double-faults.

Daniel or Marcos, is a good player. In fact, one of the bests in the game though once the going becomes tough, can find it difficult to return as all the other players. A pity Tursy lost the final to good 'ol Robby G. who played 'well' against Sam Q. and is now focusing on raising his standards!
